Syphon SoundPro Setup Guide
How can I improve the sound quality/volume of my SoundPro?
Typically, if a customer has an issue with the sound quality or volume, it’s because the speakers are not set up in the helmet in a way that allows the best sound to come through. If you follow these few simple suggestions correctly, it can make a massive difference in how loud your speakers are and how well they sound:
1. For starters, be sure you are snapping the included Ear Cushions in the packaging over the speakers. These little guys are awesome at creating a snug fit around your ears, which not only increases the volume, but really boosts that bass. If you're an audio junkie, the ear cushions are a must if you want to unlock that deep, rich-sound.
2. Next, mess around with the positioning of the speakers and make sure they are directly over your ears. It might seem like a no-brainer, but even a slight misalignment can seriously mess up the quality and volume of the audio. It might take a minute to figure out where that sweet spot is, but trust us, it can make a night and day difference. Some helmets have speaker cutouts. Because every head is unique, sometimes those speaker cutouts are not directly over your ears, thus not allowing for optimal speaker placement. The included spacers can help fill that cutout if necessary, to let you move those speakers around to find that sweet spot.
3. Finally, make sure your speakers are snuggled up against your ears. Most riders will find the Ear Cushions alone are enough to create a snug fit, but for those who do not want to use the ear cushions, or their helmet won't accommodate the cushions, use the Spacers as needed. The closer the speakers are to your ears, the better the sound quality and volume will be. If there is any space or gap between the speakers and your ears, it will dramatically reduce the volume and quality of the audio.
Give these tips a try and see if you notice a difference in your sound quality and volume. It's also important to note that downloaded music is much louder than music streamed over data so be sure you are listening to downloaded music. If you take the speakers out of your helmet and press them snuggly up against your ears you'll notice how much better they sound. The idea is to try and replicate that same experience in your helmet. And remember, if you still want to tweak things a bit more, you can always adjust the EQ settings on your phone or music streaming app to really fine-tune things. Here is how to adjust the equalizer in Spotify for the SoundPro.
How can I improve the quality of the microphone?
The mic is located in the right speaker housing (longest speaker cable lead) directly opposite of where the cable goes into the speaker. If the beamforming mic is pointed towards the direction of your mouth it helps. At speeds less than 35mph/55kph your voice quality can improve if you speak with an open visor.
